HYDROLOGY AND HYDROGEOLOGY

The isotopic tool is a well-known practice in hydrogeology, especially in research studies associated with the characterization of surface and groundwater circulations. Stable isotopes (2H, 18O) in water molecule are sensitive tracers for the identification of elevation and recharge areas, same as radioactive isotopes (3H, 14C) which are useful formean residence time investigations. Moreover, isotope analysis of dissolved species represent a valid support in better understanding of the hydrogeological conceptual model.
